  • About

We're leading the Winchester community in the creation of several 'Memory Quilts', designed to capture the stories and memories that make our city extraordinary. But The Fabric of Winchester is also an opportunity for St John's to seek support for our Dementia Support service, which has provided critical help to more than 140 individuals living with dementia since the programme's inception in October 2022. With only two part-time Admiral Nurses and one part-time Dementia Support Worker, our team goes above and beyond to answer every call for help.

Yet with an estimated one in six people in their 80s and one in three people aged 90 and over developing dementia, they face an impossible mission: to meet the ever-increasing demand for our service whilst maintaining the same level of exceptional care. Our team is now receiving more than a dozen referrals every month. Each requires several in-person and telephone meetings, cross-service connection and communication, and careful, considerate case management. They build close relationships with each family, carer and the person living with dementia, providing a lifeline during an otherwise often lonely and isolating time.

By donating to the St John’s Dementia Support Service, you’ll help us to reach those most in need, transforming the quality of life for individuals, carers and loved ones facing a dementia diagnosis. Let's galvanise the Winchester community to not only come together in the joy and creativity of storytelling, but also to help those whose memories we must cherish.

Thank you for your generosity and we look forward to sharing Winchester's stories through The Fabric of Winchester.
